Strawberry Pots

Strawberry pots are shaped like an urn and have small holes or crevices up and down the sides. They were originally designed for growing strawberries, but gardeners have found them to be easy and convenient for other plants, mainly flowering annuals. In 1976, I grew purple, white and yellow violas in such a pot, and if anyone visits me, I will show the picture I have of that 'blooming pot'!

You can also grow herbs in them. Plants that have a hanging habit put the pockets of strawberry pots to good use [try alyssum and lobelia for great color]. Strawberries have a natural hanging habit and fill in quickly, with lots of open space with light for bearing their berries!
