Flower Identification

Q. I see flowers but do not know there names. Where can I find: Flower Pictures on the Web for ID'ing?

A. This is a common problem. I love it...what is it??? Try these two favorites of mine and be sure to bookmark them so you may return later at your leisure:

http://www.flowerweb.com

Click at the left had green list 'Flowerbase' and a center box will come up. Type in under English name the plant you are seeking. Or, scroll through pictures to find one you do not know the name of!

For pictures using: Botanical names, in English and various other languages. Match start of name; Match anywhere; Preview pictures

I happen to enjoy using this one below a lot. I find the pix very helpful in my searching to ID plants, link with a name!

Gardenflowers
Photo Gallery If you are looking for a picture of a specific flower or the name of one... you should be able find it on these sites... more will be added soon.

Alan writes~ I just read your page about how to i d flowers by going to a site and scrolling thru pictures. Then I had an Idea! Is there a site which will i d a flower that I have sent to them via my Epson Scanner? The possibilities are endless for this service.

A. Sorry, no such service was found online. The best solution is to take the flowers in a clean sealed plastic bag to a reputable local nursery or garden center or to your local Agriculture Department [cooperative extension or affiliated with a college or university] for identification.
