Hot tub wiring

The tub has to have a good wiring to make the bath safe and also save energy. The receptacle that provides power for circulation and sanitation system is permanently installed inside the walls of the pool and is protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter. Here we shall see the switches and relays of spa bathtub.

Hot tub switches

The electricity follows a path provided by wires and switches. Switch is a device that provides a bridge for electricity to pass between two contacts or poles. These devices are known as single pole single throw switches. Spa has many single pole switches and testing them to be sure they are working requires activating the various switch activation mechanism. These are power off tests with multimeter set on ohms. Activating the switches is the part of using the spa. Turning them up with the power off can activate thermostats. When you turn the temperature knob up, the faint clicking noise is the sound of the switch closing.

The high limit switches and pressure switches are also one of the switches of the tub. When tripped the reset button of the high limit switch pops out. The pressure switches are normally operated by the water pressure can also be activated manually by switching on the button beneath the micro switch. The time clocks have switches too. You can activate the switch by turning the knob clockwise until it clicks.

Another common type of switch found in spa is the single pole double throw (spdt) switch. This switch allows for two separate paths for the electricity to flow. The spdt switch provides the basis for the relay necessary to run spa systems. Air activated relays often use spdt switches. Most of the portable spa utilise two-speed pump motor. This motor runs in either high speed or in low speed but not both.

Spa relays

Relay serves as amount for several switches and can be powered by air or magnetic coils and they can be called switches too. One of the relays is the air receiving relays that is connected to the button at the side of the spa. The air relays forces air into the turbine when the switch is on. The momentary air receiving relays generally sends a pulse of electricity that causes a rod to move and activate a switch or switches in relay. The voltage of such coils is 120 volts. Another heavy-duty relay known as contractors send heavier current flow mainly to heater. The wires to the heaters are large as contractors have the capacity to handle large wire size.
