Baffle curtain.

impermeable barriers (as it is vertical in nature) in a pond or a reservoir and then it works to divert the water flow into the longest path through the reservoir thereby doing away with any short cuts in the water treatment system.
Why a baffle curtain is important
Sometimes, short cutting of water flow occurs when water goes directly from inlet to the intended outlet across a pond or reservoir, which creates stagnation and certain areas, do not get regular treatment. This can prove potentially damaging as lack of proper treatment, especially in the case of drinking water in which additional chlorine may be needed. In effluent treatments, pollutants may increase if not treated but the correct placement of baffle curtains can eliminate this problem
Placement of baffle curtains
Baffle curtains used in drinking water treatment are placed in clear well and reservoirs to enhance the contact time between chlorine and water, which also increases in disinfecting the water and improving the performance of the water treatment procedure by eliminating viruses. In the effluent treatment, the baffle curtain is of floating nature and does away with the shortcutting that may have occurred otherwise.
Features and advantages of using a baffle curtain
Since a baffle curtain is a virtual vertical membrane directing the flow of water in a pond or any similar water containment unit, it helps the water treatment to have maximum effect by ensuring that the water is directed along the longest path possible. This serpentine diversion of the water increases treatment time and in this unique way, a baffle curtain can increase the efficiency of a pond, tank or reservoir, reducing the additional cost of having to expand the facility and minimizing the need for creating a new facility too as by increasing the treatment performance of the existing infrastructure, any major upgrade that may not be practical or affordable, can be easily avoided and at a fraction of the cost, a more economical and equally effective alternative can be a retrofit.
