Central cooling system for the house

Depending upon the area of the house and where it is built the home may have many of several different types of home climate systems that help to enjoy the interior spaces year round. Houses may be cooled by central air conditioning, room air conditioners, heat pumps or the old-fashioned way with ceiling fans.

What is central air condition?

Central air conditioning commonly referred to as central air or air-con, is an air conditioning system, which uses ducts to distribute, cooled and dehumidified air to more than one room or uses pipes to distribute chilled water to heat exchangers in more than one room and which is not plugged into a standard electrical outlet. With a typical split system, the condenser and compressor are located in an outdoor unit and the evaporator is mounted in the air-handling unit, which is often a forced air furnace. With a package system, all components are located in a single outdoor unit that may be located on the ground or in the roof. Central air conditioning performs like a regular air conditioner but has several added benefits. When the air-handling unit turns on, the room air is drawn in from various parts of the house through return-air ducts. This air is pulled through a filter where airborne particles like dust and lint are removed. Sophisticated filters may remove microscopic pollutants too. The filtered air is routed to air supply ductwork that carries it back to the rooms. Whenever the air conditioner is running, this cycle repeats continually. As the central air conditioning unit is located outside the home, it offers a lower level of noise indoors than a freestanding air conditioning unit.

Maintenance of central cooling system
1. Clean or replace the air conditioner's filter frequently. It can be done monthly during heaviest use.
2. Get annual and detailed equipment inspections.
3. Keep fallen leaves, grass clippings, dryer lint and other dirt and debris away from the system's outdoor condenser. And keep the condenser coils clean.
4. Cut back grass and foliage to permit easy airflow around the house and see that leaks in ducts are sealed and that the ducts in humid spaces are insulated.
5. Don't block vents or ducts inside the house. Caulk and install weather stripping around windows and doors.
