Concrete Cutting

Concrete cutting involves controlled cutting or sawing and removal of concrete using special equipment such as saws with diamond impregnated blades and performed by skilled and professional concrete cutting contractors. Concrete cutting is mainly divided into three kinds of activities such as wall sawing, core drilling and slab sawing.

Wall sawing

Wall sawing is a process of cutting concrete for creating openings such as doors or windows or even creating passages between basement rooms. A huge 30" saw may be used to cut into concrete that can measure between 12" and 24" in thickness. This task is best accomplished by professional concrete cutting contractors who can cut perfectly and create level openings with precision. It is highly recommended that any wall sawing activity be carried out at the time of construction itself as this may cause less damage to the existing walls.

Core drilling

At times, the design or renovation process of any home or building may involve the requirement of perfectly round holes in the already constructed walls. Core drilling is the process of cutting concrete to achieve the same. Core holes are mostly used for utility applications such as electrical, heating and plumbing wires or ducts and pipes. Core drilling is also required for creating fireplace vents or vents for clothes dryers. Here also, hiring a professional concrete cutter will make the job easier and less messy.

Slab sawing

Repairs to underground water pipes or sewer lines or filling up of cracked driveways or patios may require a certain part or slab to be cut away. This is done using a method called as slab sawing or flat sawing where horizontal cuts or openings are made in the concrete floor. If there are changes to be made in the exterior landscape of a house, a homeowner may again want certain portions of concrete removed from the existing patio or walkway. Slab sawing may also be required when basements are remodeled to include bathrooms. It is again recommended that professional concrete cutters who can complete such tasks expertly using less time and equipment and at the same time do not create a mess should carry out slab sawing.
