Cleaning of home before the Christmas arrives

One of the best things about Christmas is that is the symbolism. From the star on the top of the Christmas tree to the menorah of Hanukkah, the symbols remind us that there are things in this world larger. One of those symbols is our home. So below are few tips to do before the arrival of Christmas and the New Year.

Out with the old
De-clutter as much as possible
Clean out old magazines, food, clothing, and anything that hasn't been used or is broken.

Clean the floors
Get the old energy out by vacuuming and mopping the floors on New Year's Eve.

Do the laundry
You do not want to go into the New Year with the dirty clothes hanging around. Be sure to fold and put the clean clothes away.

Clean the bathroom
It only takes a few minutes and you will not have a nasty mess to greet the next year of your life.

Empty all trashcans
Get everyone to pitch in so last years trash is not hanging around.

Clean the refrigerator
You do not want old food or a moldy science project lurking in the fridge.

Clear out visual clutter
Clear off the counters in the bathrooms and kitchen. Clear off desk and dust it. Pitch the sticky notes and papers and things, which may be, taped everywhere. Do not forget the refrigerator. Make it a blank slate.

Clean up yard and your car
Make sure the yard is been picked up and the front doorstep is swept clear. Wash and vacuum the car so it is not filthy going in to the New Year.

Change the sheets and towels
Put clean sheets on all the beds on New Year and clean towels in the bathroom and kitchen.

Take down the Christmas decorations
This is the tough one. Most of us dread the New Year because we have to take all the decorations down. Make it a point to take them down two days before hand.

For everyone who thinks you cannot do this, just think that you wake up on the New Year day and you have no decorations to put away. You will know that the New Year day is great with all the cleaning done.
