Bath

Choosing a design for a bath can be an overwhelming as well as an exciting proposition for homeowners and there is a variety of designs in the market today to suit the taste, budget and lifestyle of just about everyone. There are many styles to the way your bath can look and to make it reflective of your taste and requirements, you can refer to the guidelines below to determine what you think suits you best out of these.

Types of bath

The Victorian style of a bath is determined by steep roofs, which have pointed arches on the windows, fancy trim along roof edges, high dormers, lancet windows and other gothic details. The light fixtures in such baths can be chandeliers, kerosene or electric lamps or even astrals and sconces. The cabinets are normally weathered looking and made of heavy wood with chrome or ornamental pulls and knobs. Modern baths are constructed along sleek lines that have minimal accessories and details as the designers prefer the clean, straight look in this; so, the appliances are hidden and concealed fittings and cabinets are the rage with materials like stainless steel, marble, granite and frosted glass used extensively. Basic shapes and bold, bright colors are favored here. The Southwestern style, on the other hand has more detailed features and unique craftsmanship on display in the stucco and hand-painted fabrics used in the bath, and wood, quarry, ceramic tiles in earth tones and vibrant colors is prevalent here as are warm tones in orange, red, green, brown, tan and terra cotta elements too.
The traditional bath has crown moldings, rich deep colors and raised wood paneling to enhance the conventional patterns it follows. The tones on the wood may be dark stains; honey, semi-opaque paints and usually wicker baskets, chairs and oak cabinets are on display for the formal look. For a bath that is welcoming and offers ease of space, one can go for the country look, which favors muted hues and earth ones as well. Exposed beams, paneling in pine, brick and barn boards and gingham checks and floral motifs rule the roost here in curtains, bath towels and wallpaper used.

Current trends in bath industry

The more recent changes in modern times have designers recording an eclectic change in bath fashions where a mix of old and new features is asked for to be combined in a harmonious way so the bath can be an amalgamation of different styles and time periods.
