Aviaries for the backyard garden

About backyard in short:

Aviaries first originated in England. It is actually a bird house of different sizes and shapes depending upon the climate of the region and the types of birds. An aviary in the backyard garden will bring the property owners and that entire number of people who visit them many hours of pure pleasure and wonderment. The best thing to start of is to refer to some books related to aviaries, as it happens to be one of the rarest hobbies, which is yet to be flourished. However building an aviary and taking care of it entirely depending upon the information from a book will result in some major mistakes initially for sure. However correcting them is worth well of this hobby as it returns so much more in pure enjoyment than the work or cost in dollars or anything else that one could think of to spend money on. However one may explore every conceivable way to make the finished outdoor aviary as maintenance free as possible, but there is still a certain amount of work to be done. These may include washing down the aviary with a garden hose, changing out the potted plantings, feeding, etc, but many people feel this as a true labor of love and the rewards are so extraordinary, that mere money is no match.

Construction of the backyard aviary:

Construction of a backyard aviary can be rather described as a vocation and is thoroughly enjoyable. However it is advisable to be aware of the climatic conditions and the birds that can thrive well in that specific environment prior to the purchase. From the constructive point of view an ideal aviary should be sheltered from rain and wind and should face southeast, the direction birds often naturally choose when nesting. One should be sure to install places for birds to perch, and also the materials to be used to build the aviary are safe for wildlife. It is recommended not to use pressure-treated wood or materials with toxic resins and to be aware of the metal shavings from screws so that they might not go into wood.
