Baseball games

Baseball is the favorite game of everybody. So make it a point that next time when you fall short of ideas of various games then mark the ground for the baseball game. Baseball is magnificent game and is only one of its types. All though it is a team sport it can be played in three players also.

Baseball as a team sport

Baseball is played between two teams of nine players each. There are usually four umpires in major league games. There are altogether four bases. They numbered anti-clockwise. Catcher's box, first, second and third bases squares are raised a short distance above the ground. Four bases form a square referred as diamond. Catcher's box is a pentagonal rubber slab. The field of baseball is divided into two main sections:

1. The infield: It contains the four bases. It is for defensive and offensive purposes bounded by the foul lines and the grass line. Infield technically consists of only the area within the bases, including the foul lines.

2. The outfield: It is the grassed area beyond the infield grass line. Properly speaking, the outfield consists of all fair ground beyond the square of the infield and its bases.

How to play the game

The game is played in nine innings. Each team gets one turn to bat and try to score runs while the other pitches and defends in the field. An inning is broken up into two halves in which the away team bats first and the home team bats in the second half. In baseball, the defense always has the ball. This fact differentiates it from other team sports. The teams switch every time the defending team gets three players out. The winner is the team with the majority of runs after nine innings. In the case of a tie, additional innings are played until one team comes ahead of the other at the end of an inning. If the home team takes the lead play stops and the home team is declared the winner.
