Kitchen Appliances

Everyone who does any cooking spends a lot of time in the kitchen, and there are appliances that you need in a kitchen to make life easier when you cook. The stove is probably one of the most important appliances in the kitchen. You should select a stove that has burners and ovens that are accessible. There are several brand name stove manufacturers like Jennair, GE and Frigidaire that designed their stoves so that the knobs or push-button controls are in the front of the stove, so you don’t have to reach across hot burners to reach controls. Another option that allows for more flexibility is having a cook top with a separate oven built into the wall.

The refrigerator you choose should be shallow in depth to allow for easy access to items that are stored in the back. You can also consider refrigerators with turntables, adjustable shelving and slide out storage boxes. Water and ice dispensers on the door of your refrigerator are also nice additions.

If you want a microwave, place it at countertop reach. Those that are above the stove or high up on a wall are too hard to reach and hot dishes are more likely to spill out over you or the floor. When placed on a counter, a side-swing door is the best option, as it allows for easy access to plates, etc. A garbage disposal is a must in any kitchen and is a great convenience eliminating the need for a separate receptacle for garbage. Another great convenience is a trash compactor built into one of your lower cabinets spaces. This allows you to eliminate a trashcan in the kitchen area.
